At the Library: Week of Mar. 4

Here's a look at what's going on at the Lindenhurst Memorial Library this week, including tax help and projects and playtime for the kids.

Our local libraries are a source of both knowledge and entertainment, with informational and education events being hosted throughout the week.

The Lindenhurst Memorial Library often hosts these events for little or no charge, so check out the top events going on this week.

Week of March 4
1. The Lindenhurst Memorial Library is no longer hosting FEMA – the federal assistance program has moved to headquarter itself at the Copiague Memorial Public Library starting on Tuesday, February 26.

2. The library has won the Facebook Like Race. It topped 4,000 likes on its Facebook page here. The LML posted a thank you on the page to Lindy for helping it become the first library in Suffolk County to reach that goal.

3. The LML's Book Swap runs from March 1 to 30. Pre-school, grade school and middle school kids are invited to bring in outgrown books from home to trade for books brought by others. You may take exactly as many books as you bring. (All books count equally.

4. The Reading is Dino-Mite (CH): Parents as Reading Partners program is running from March 1 to 31. Pick up your calendar and sticker sheet anytime as of March 1. Every day that you read or listen to a book, put a sticker on that day's calendar square. Bring your calendar into the library anytime between March 20 to 30 and get a prize!

5. Tax Prep Assistance is available at the LML. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is open to lower and middle income senior citizens 50 years and older and the disabled by appointment only. Appointments could be made at the Lindenhurst Memorial Library by calling Circulation at 957-7755. This will be held at the Lindenhurst Memorial Library. It's conducted by volunteers of Bethpage Federal Credit Union.

6. There's a Preschool Projects and Playtime (CH) program on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for ages 2.5 to pre-kindergarten. Drop by the children's room and enjoy making projects and playing with the library's toys and puzzles. No advanced registration is needed.
