Photos: Fundraiser Lends Support to Lindenhurst's Batz Family

Residents and volunteers turn out in force at car wash fundraiser to help young Mason Batz and his parents with mounting medical expenses as the boy fights leukemia.

More than 250 cars more than 40 volunteers and more than $3,000 raised.

That was the turnout of the Mission for Mason car wash on , 2011, and the result of the Lindenhurst community coming together and showing support for young Mason Batz and his family as he battles leukemia.

It's a battle that Mason is winning, with the help and loving support of his family and the community.

The group's efforts raised money to help Mason's parents, Mike and Jeanine Batz, deal with the on-going and mounting medical expenses for the tests and medication that are needed to help keep Mason in remission.

Adding to the volunteer count were more than 40 local children from the , – some of whom had never even met Mason before Saturday – who donated their time to help out at the event.

Janet Romero, Tracy Hennigan, Dawn Lane, Amy Beyer and Jeanine Batz organized the car wash, which is a prelude to a major for Mason that's set for Saturday, , at Firemen’s Pavillion at Firemen’s Park in Lindenhurst.
