"She was moving when she was hit," and her car flipped several times before hitting a utility pole, Edwards said in the Newsday.com report.

The Copiague High School graduate's parents Tom and Cheryl Walsh told Newsday they have only one solace: "She didn't suffer."

Police charged the driver of the other car, Grasing, with DWI, and he was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip for treatment of minor injuries.

The Newsday.com report said investigators were waiting for Grasing's test results, and were retracing his steps that night.

Police said he'll be arraigned on a future date at First District Court in Central Islip.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, and the investigation is continuing.
