SCPD: Lindenhurst Man Charged with Robbing Bank in Amityville

Thomas Weber was arrested Tuesday for allegedly robbing the Suffolk County National Bank in Amityville on Monday, and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, police say.

Suffolk Police arrested a Lindenhurst man in connection with a bank robbery that took place at the Suffolk County National Bank in Amityville on Monday.

Thomas Weber, 28, was nabbed Tuesday and charged by Major Case Investigations Unit detectives with one count of robbery in the third degree.

He was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct, according to police, and has been scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday, February 1.

According to Suffolk County Police Major Case Investigations Unit detectives Weber allegedy entered the bank, located at 400 Merrick Road in Amityville, at approximately 2:15 p.m. on January 30, and handed the teller a note demanding cash and threatening use of a gun.

The teller complied with the demands, police said, and Weber purportedly fled the scene on foot, east on Merrick Road.

The subject, police said, was described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, approximately six feet tall, clean-shaven, with a slim build. According to witnesses, police added, the subject was wearing a black-knit cap, sunglasses, a yellow-and-black striped scarf, a tan-colored leather coat with fur on the collar, and blue jeans.
