Lindenhurst borrowing $2 million to pay contractors, repair marina damages.

As the recovery and rebuilding effort from Hurricane Sandy continues throughout Lindenhurst, some bills for the Village are now coming due.

Village officials this past week approved a $2 million bond to pay contractors involved in helping Lindenhurst remove debris and recover from Sandy, according to Newsday.

Village officials had put off borrowing hoping they would quickly receive funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to cover removal and repair costs.

According to Cullinane, FEMA has said it would pay 75 percent of Sandy-related costs, with New York State covering an additional 12.5 percent of recovery costs.
