Adopt A House Hosts Online Fundraisers for Houses in Need

  • Thanks to Adopt a House for posting!

Adopt A House has created a crowdrise.com account to collect and disperse funds directly to houses in need while residents wait for insurance money and relief funds that are held up in a myriad of red tape.

We currently have 20 of the 400+ Registered Houses* set up with individual fundraising pages. And we are working hard to get any house who needs additional help set up with a fundraising page.

We are hoping to spread the word through via social networks of residents, communities, neighbors, volunteers and donors that this nightmare is far from over for most of those who were affected by the storm. We are urging everyone in the community whether they are able to donate themselves or not, to please simple share this information with their social network on facebook, twitter, email and let the country know that folks are not back in their homes and are still struggling to regain normalcy more than 5 months since the storm.

House #413 is is looking to raise $23,000 for a number of expenses including a bedroom set for her neice, of whom she has custody after her brother passed away just two months before the storm. Nancy is desperately trying to restore some normalcy for her young niece who just lost her dad.

House #239 has 3 small children and a backyard that was decimated by Sandy. Insurance will not cover the costs, which includes filling in an in-ground pool and reinstalling a fence to make this area safe for the children again.

Donors can read more individual stories of residents affected by Sandy, choose a beneficiary and make a tax-deductible donation which will go directly to that resident by visiting our page here: http://www.crowdrise.com/adoptahouseinc

Adopt A House is  501C3 organization, any tax deductible donations are welcome and help us keep our programs for residents free. Please visit our website to learn more or contact us with any questions at all: info@adoptahouse.org
