- Thanks to the Junior League of Long Island for posting!
The Junior League of Long Island (www.jlli.org) hosted a thank you dinner for 20 Sandy relief volunteers from Crisis Response International (CRI) on Sunday, February 17 at the Lindenhurst Village Rainbow Senior Center.
CRI volunteers (www.criout.com) have been assisting with local storm clean up since late October. They have been living at the Senior Center and have selflessly given their time and talents to help Long Island rebuild from the storm.
Many LI businesses generously donated food for the dinner, including Applebee’s, Panera Bread, B&B Fish & Clam, Inc., Cusmos Greek American Restaurant, Roma Pizza, Southside Fish & Clam and Gino’s of Great Neck.
Junior League members organized the event and served the volunteers. We also provided crafts and toys for the children of the volunteers.
Local politicians also attended the dinner to thank the CRI volunteers for their service, including Rich Schaffer, Town of Babylon Supervisor; Councilman Tony Martinez; Councilman Tom Donnelly; and Lindenhurst Mayor Tom Brennan.
The Junior League of Long Island is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
