Yesterday was an exciting day for Republicans. After much trepidation about traveling, I flew into Tampa without incident, and checked into the Clearwater Beach Hilton with the rest of the New York delegation.
There was much excitement and buzzing about Mitt Romney's impending nomination.
I then took the shuttle to attend the Welcoming Event at Tropicana Field, where the Tampa Bay Rays play, which was a great venue with food, drinks and abundant camaraderie.
Entertainment was provided with a concert by country star Rodney Adkins as the highlight.
I spent a great evening speaking to our dynamic Congressman Pete King; New York Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, NYS Senate candidate and Assemblyman Phil Boyle and his lovely wife Victoria; Rockland County Chairman Vincent Reda; Bronx Chairman Jay Savino; Brooklyn Chairman Craig Eaton and Nassau County Republican stalwart and OTB President Joe Cairo. Suffolk County Republican Chairman John Jay LaValle will be heading down today.

Note: The RNC was called into session on Monday afternoon with an abbreviated schedule, and immediately gaveled into until Tuesday afternoon as - now on a Gulf trajectory further West toward New Orleans, according to - dumps rain in the Tampa area and along Florida’s Gulf Coast. However, since the storm has shifted West, the weather forecast for Tampa isn’t as bleak or dangerous as it was thought to be at the end of last week.
