Call for Entries: BACCA's Judged Art Show

The Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts is seeking works by local artists for its 23rd Annual Judged Art Show, set for June 11 to 16 at Old Babylon Town Hall.

The Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts is seeking entries from for its 23rd Annual Judged Art Show.

The show - presented by the Lindenhurst-based Arts Center - is set for at in Babylon Village.

It's open to all Long Island and Metro artists, according to BACCA's entry form and brochure for this year's event.

Entries for this year's must be original works which haven't been previously exhibited in a BACCA show. Three current original works may be submitted; at least one will be accepted.

The categories include:

  • Oils.
  • Portraits.
  • Acrylics.
  • Drawing.
  • Mixed Media.
  • Pastels.
  • Watercolors.
  • Students (nine to 14 years old).
  • Students (15 to 18 years old).

Light refreshments will be served at the Artists' Awards Ceremony and Reception on Friday, June 15, and all are invited.

Awards will be given for Best in Show ($100.00 and ribbon); Supervisor’s Award ($75.00, ribbon and name on BACCA plaque); and Viewer’s Choice Award ($50.00 and ribbon).

First- ($75.00 and ribbon), second- ($50.00 and ribbon) and third-place ($25.00 and ribbon), as well as honorable mentions (ribbons) in all categories will also be awarded.

However, entrants in the student categories aren't eligible for Best in Show or Supervisor’s Award.

For BACCA members it's $10 for one entry, $20 for two entries and $25 for three entries. For non-members it's $25 per entry.

According to BACCA, artists cannot submit photographs, sculpture, crafts or nudes. Works must be suitably framed, wired and ready for hanging, and shouldn't exceed 40" by 40", including the frame.

Artists entering works in the show agree "no entries will be removed until 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 16," noted BACCA, and all entries "must be picked up at the Old Town Hall on [that day] between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m."

BACCA noted it'll charge a late fee of $15 per day for all work remaining past
2 p.m. that Saturday.

In addition, works may be offered for sale, no commission will be charged and artists may indicate price on the application, according to BACCA. A price list
will be distributed to the public.

"Donations to BACCA are always acceptable," added officials.

What age group are these homemakers? My mom just recently moved into my house in Lindenhurst and IRead More would love for her to keep busy, make friends and enjoy herself. she is not very crafty, but would like to get involved in other things if available.
