Classic American Restaurant Closed, Up for Sale

Popular West Babylon eatery was featured on "Kitchen Nightmares" in 2011.

The popular Classic American Restaurant in West Babylon has closed down and been put up for sale, owners confirmed via Facebook this week.

“Yes it's true,” noted co-owner Colleen Gaertner on the business’ Facebook page. “I would like to thank all of our employees, friends, family and loyal customers for [their] support and patronage for the last 13 years. It has been our pleasure to serve you! Thank You!”

Gaertner noted the co-owners would be still be offering our catering services and can be reached through their Facebook profiles.

The popular restaurant on Route 109 served up tasty burgers, sandwiches and other American specialties since it opened in 2000.

The restaurant and its co-owners were featured in a 2011 episode of the show “Kitchen Nightmares” with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey. The show’s plot revolves around Ramsey trying to help “save” a failing business by making changes to the menu, operations and atmosphere.

The building on Route 109 is currently for sale through MGM Islandwide Realty Inc. and, along with a two-family home, the property is selling for $535,000.
