Empty In Lindy: Former Chase Bank

A sure sign of the tough economic times is the number of For Sale and For Rent signs you see in the Village and North Lindenhurst.

If you go down Wellwood Avenue, Sunrise Highway, Hoffman Avenue, Montauk Highway or other major roads in the area, residents are sure to find a few.

During the next few months, Lindenhurst Patch is going to some of those properties and ask you what you'd like to see in there.

Chase Bank operated out of the property many years ago, after serving the community as a bustling location as Manhattan Bank before it. Chase moved across the street into the former Washington Mutual/Bank of New York building.

The space has been vacant for the better part of the last 10 years and few have come forward with interest in the property. The property’s facade has taken a hit in recent years with a few issues of graffiti and broken windows.

The 9,197 square foot space has about 4,397 square feet available to be rented and is close to the municipal parking lot and Long Island Rail Road station.

What would you like to see move into this location? A new restaurant like Babylon’s Monsoon or Islip’s Tellers? A clothing or retail store? A farmer’s market? Leave your ideas in the comments below.
