Officials: No Trader Joe's in Lindenhurst for Now

As of late there’ve been so many residents who seem to welcome the idea of a Trader Joe’s location right here in Lindenhurst.

And many have as such on the in Lindenhurst Patch’s Visions for Vacancies series where we ask residents to share what they’d like to see in some of the around the .

So Patch went to Trader Joe’s headquarters in Monrovia, California, to ask if it was planning a Lindy location in the near future.

This is what they had to say after a few attempts to get some comment:

“Unfortunately at this time we’re not able to confirm a new location in Lindenhurst or the nearby area. The best place to find information in that regard is on the website, but that information would be made available just prior to any store openings. We wouldn’t be able to confirm until [a store location] is in the actual final stages,” Hazel, in Trader Joe’s customer relations, explained in a voicemail message to Patch.

Currently, there are 19 locations listed on the Trader Joe’s website as “coming soon.” However, Lindenhurst isn’t listed there either.

The closest new Trader Joe’s store on that list is in Westbury. It’ll join other Long Island locations in Plainview, Merrick, Lake Grove, Oceanside, Commack and Hewlett.

So it seems, for now at least, there’ll be no Trader Joe’s in Lindenhurst or in the surrounding area.

What is coming to Lindy is German supermarket chain Aldi, which is slated to open early in 2013.
