W. Babylon's West Marine to Close in Nov.
Longtime boating and fishing shop will close its doors for good later this fall.
Boating supplying and fishing accessories store West Marine will closer their West Babylon location on November 11, according to store employees.
The shop, located 527 Montauk Highway in the Pathmark Shopping Center, had been a part of the area for the better part of the last 10 years, helping local boaters and fishermen with parts and accessories for their water adventures.
The entire store has entered into a moving sale until the West Babylon location closes, with some items in the storefront up to 30 percent off.
The storefront windows have had announcements noting the imminent departure of the shop in November, urging their customers to "head to [their] new, larger location in West Islip" on Sunrise Highway.
Customers were also told to visit the store's website for around-the-clock shopping.
527 Montauk Highway was recently noted in a Town of Babylon Planning Board meeting as a potential spot for a new Asian food restaurant. There was no word on whether those plans were accepted by the Board at press time.
