We are working with a group called
the "Suffolk County Prevention Resource Center" and are looking
for members from of the Community, whether you have skills to share, would like
to volunteer your time or simply gain insight.
We have started
this new and exciting endeavor and we cannot wait for our First Community
Meeting on June 19, 2013. I want to explain to everyone that our June 5th
meeting was about bringing different associations and facets of the Community
to have our backs in building a coalition. It's like a pie. You need all
different pieces to make a whole in order for this to work (we will get into
much more detail on the 19th). However, we now have the support of
Senator Phil Boyle, Legislature Wayne Horsley, Town of Babylon Supervisor
Richard Schaffer, Village of Lindenhurst Mayor, Thomas A. Brennan, our Board of
Education, our PTA, our Teachers Association, our Police Department, our
business owners and our organizations. We pulled together resources that are
ready and available to help.

We are now well organized in bringing this to the
members of the Community. Everyone will have an opportunity to be heard. Every
member of this Community is what makes this coalition. Not only will this
coalition make Lindenhurst a safer and healthier place to live, but it will
empower our residents to create a sense of Community Pride.

        We are super
excited about this endeavor and look forward to working with everyone on this
journey.
