Written by Irish playwright Marie Jones, Stones in his Pockets is a comedy set in a rural Ireland town that is suddenly overrun by a Hollywood film crew. The story centers on Charlie Conlon and Jake Quinn, two men struggling to find their dreams who meet while employed as extras on the film.

Much of the play’s humor is derived from the efforts of the production crew to create the proper "Irish feel," a romanticized notion that conflicts with the reality of daily life in the town.  Additionally, the cast of two is called upon to perform all 15 characters in the play, including the American film star, her intimidating bodyguard, the Southern director, two ambitious ADs, an old Irishman and among numerous others, a local boy whose actions give meaning to the title of the play in a shocking, poignant climax.

Stones… was nominated for three Tony Awards and won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy in 2001.
