Brickman Group Gives $10K to Support LI Cares' Sandy Recovery Effort
The Brickman Landscape Group of Holtsville presents a $10,000 check to Long Island Cares-The Harry Chapin Food Bank in Lindenhurst to support the non-profit's Hurricane Sandy Emergency Relief and Recovery Services Program.
Long Island Cares, Incorporated-The Harry Chapin Food Bank in Lindenhurst has received a $10,000 donation from a Holtsville-based landscaping company to support the non-profit food bank's Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts.
Based upon the Hauppauge-based organization's successful Nassau Service Center in Freeport, LI Cares South Shore Service Center opened in Lindenhurst on March 1 to assist Sandy survivors in communities along the South Shore still in need of emergency food, pet food, as well as cleaning and other supplies in the wake of the October 29 superstorm.
The Center - located at 163-1 North Wellwood Avenue, 631-991-8106 - serves is funded by a grant from The Robin Hood Foundation - with additional support being provided by private donations, corporate sponsorship and local government.
The donation from Brickman Landscape Group of Holtsville has added to that.
The presentation recently took place at LI Cares' Center in the Village.
“As a family-owned commercial landscape company that's been based on Long Island for more than 10 years, the devastation caused by this horrific storm directly impacted our clients, our employees and all of our families," said Ray Nobile, Brickman regional manager.
"After we did our part to clean up debris and destruction caused to homes and properties across both Counties, we felt as if we should do more to assist in the recovery efforts," Nobile explained.
He added: "We chose to make this donation to LI Cares’ Sandy Relief and Recovery Program because o ftheir consistent efforts and incredible dedication to the residents affected by the storm.”
