Beloved Son & Father, 9/11 First Responder Die

Here's a look at who recently died in the community.

Recent deaths in Lindenhurst include the following:

John F. "Johnny K." Kristoffersen
Kristoffersen died on August 25. He was 50.

Kristoffersen was the loving husband of Bernadette and devoted father of Jessica and Johnny. He was also the dear brother of Lisa Jaworowski and Diana Harty and the beloved son of Ann and the late John.

Visitation for the family and friends of

Kristoffersen was a First Grade Detective with the NYPD Brooklyn North Homicide Squad, as well as a 9/11 first responder.

Visitation was held at the Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home on August 28 and 29. A funeral Mass was held at  on August 30. Entombment followed at .

In lieu of flowers, the family said, contributions to NYC DEA Widow and Children's Fund, 26 Thomas Street, New York, New York 10007, in his name would be appreciated.

William M. Ruzalski
Ruzalski, whose family is from Lindenhurst, died on August 23. He was 51.

Ruzalski is survived by his mother Jean Catherine, siblings Debbie and Alex, Jeanie, Roni and Anthony.

He’s also survived by his nieces, Ashley, Alexis, Justine, Taylor, as well as nephews, Anthony, Jr., Christian and Matthew.

Ruzalski was a forklift operator for Home Depot.

Religious services were conducted on August 29, and his cremation was private.

His funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of the Lindenhurst Funeral Home.

Fred Hetsel
Hetsel, of Copiague, passed away on August 28. He was 65.

Hetsel is survived by his wife Erikam, children Sharon Esposito, Marilyn, Thomas, Eileen Golon and Erika McCarthy.

He’s also survived by his sister Marilyn Manser and six grandchildren.

Visitation was on August 30 and 31, and funeral services were conducted on September 1 at the funeral home. Hi s cremation was private.

His funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of the Lindenhurst Funeral Home.
