Couple to Be Memorialized in Lindy in August

One elderly couple’s memorial service is set for August 3, and the family of a retired state trooper offers donation information for those wishing to honor his memory.

Recent deaths in Lindenhurst include the following:

Thomas J. Rizza and Rosemary Rizza
The couple passed away within months of each other this year.

Thomas J. Rizza was 83 when he died on May 26, and Rosemary was 78 when she died on January 12.

They're going to be memorialized on August 3 at the Lindenhurst Funeral Home.

Formerly of Lindenhurst the Rizzas passed away in Spring Hill, Florida.

They were survived by their children Deborah Distilli, Thomas Rizza and Valerie (Salvatore) Vaccaro and the late Edward Distilli.

They’ve also been survived by their grandchildren Nicole, Brian, Casey and great grandson Michael.

The aforementioned memorial service for the couple is set for Friday, August 3, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the funeral home on South Wellwood Avenue.

Thomas J. Fitzgerald
Thomas J. Fitzgerald, of Northport and formerly from Lindenhurst, passed away on July 12. He was 75.

Fitzgerald is survived by his children Thomas, Timothy and Kevin. He’s also survived by his companion Evelyn Shelley and four grandchildren.

Fitzgerald served in the Army during the Korean conflict, and was a retired police officer for the New York State Troopers.

Religious services were conducted on July 17. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on July 18 at in the Village. Interment followed at Breslau Cemetery in Lindenhurst.

The family has indicated donations could be made to NYS Troopers PBA, Signal 30 Fund, Incorporated, in memory of Thomas J. Fitzgerald, and they could be mailed to NYS Troopers PBA, 1220 State Street, Albany, NY 12207.

His funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of the Lindenhurst Funeral Home.

John J. Patsalos
John J. Patsalos, of Lindenhurst, passed away on July 10. He was 46.

Funeral services were conducted on July 13. Interment followed at Saint Charles Cemetery.

His funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of the Lindenhurst Funeral Home.

What age group are these homemakers? My mom just recently moved into my house in Lindenhurst and IRead More would love for her to keep busy, make friends and enjoy herself. she is not very crafty, but would like to get involved in other things if available.
