John Bertone, Eucharistic Minister at OLPH, Passes Away
Dedicated church-goer and father of eight was 87 years old.
John Bertone, a longtime Lindenhurst resident, who served as an Eucharistic Minister and CCD Educator at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, passed away on October 19.
Bertone was 87 years old.
Bertone was a member of the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus, Third Order Franciscan. He also spent much of his time in service to his parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Wellwood Avenue, serving as an Eucharistic Minister and CCD Educator.
He was preceded in death by his wife Roseann.
He is survived by his sisters Mary, Anna, Camille and Natalie and his eight children Robert, Rev. Thomas C.S.C., Jane, John, Barbara, William, MaryRose and Joseph.
He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A wake will be held at Lindenhurst Funeral Home in Lindenhurst from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on October 22. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on October 23 at 11 a.m.
Bertone will be interred at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
