World War II Vet Passes Away

Here's a look at who recently passed away in the Lindenhurst community.

Recent deaths in Lindenhurst include the following:

Joseph S. Maffeo
Maffeo, formerly of Lindenhurst, passed away on June 29. He was 88.

He’s survived by his wife of more than 62 years, Aida, as well as his children, Joseph, Linda Cardinal and Father Michael.

He‘s also survived by his siblings Geraldine Scutellero, Savino, and five grandchildren.

Maffeo was a proud World War II Army veteran, and received the Purple Heart.

He was also an active member of Holy Name Society, St Vincent DePaul Society and Wade-Burns VFW Post 7279.

Religious services were conducted on July 2. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on July 3 at T. Joseph’s Church in Ronkonkoma. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.

His funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of the Lindenhurst Funeral Home.

Frank J. Comunale
Comunale, of Lindenhurst, passed away on June 25. He was 58.

He’s survived by his wife Eleanor, as well as his children, Donna and Timothy.

Comunale is also survived by his siblings Anthony, Patrick, Leann, Raymond, Richard and Frank.

Visitation was held on June 28. Funeral services were conducted on June 29 at the Lindenhurst Funeral Home. Cremation was private.

His funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of the Lindenhurst Funeral Home.

Robert Albert
Albert, a Lindenhurst native, passed away on June 25. He was 83.

He’s survived by his wife Katherine, and his children, Douglas, Thomas and Richard.

Albert’s also survived by eight grandchildren.

Religious services were conducted on June 29.

Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on June 30 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Interment followed at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

His funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of the Lindenhurst Funeral Home.
