A good rule of thumb is to replace your hot water heater every 10 years. Here are some other signs that might mean it is time to replace your unit.

When you start noticing that your shower, sink and other appliances aren't running hot water, it could be time to replace your hot water heater. Since hot water heaters don't have very many moving parts, they need few repairs. So, unless you have a minor problem with the unit, it is probably time to replace it. A good rule of thumb is to replace your hot water heater every 10 years.
