9/11 First Responder from Lindenhurst Dies

Visitation for John F. Kristoffersen, an NYPD homicide detective, is today at Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home in Babylon, and the funeral Mass is Thursday morning at OLPH Church.

An active-duty NYPD homicide detective and 9/11 first responder from Lindenhurst has passed away.

John F. "Johnny K." Kristoffersen died on August 25. He was 50.

Kristoffersen was the loving husband of Bernadette and devoted father of Jessica and Johnny. He was also the dear brother of Lisa Jaworowski and Diana Harty and the beloved son of Ann and the late John.

Visitation for the family and friends of Kristoffersen, a First Grade Detective with the NYPD Brooklyn North Homicide Squad, is being held at the in Babylon, today, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Visitation was also held yesterday afternoon.

A funeral Mass will be held at  on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. Entombment will take place at .

In lieu of flowers, the family said, contributions to NYC DEA Widow and Children's Fund, 26 Thomas Street, New York, New York 10007, in his name would be appreciated.
