A Lindenhurst man was struck and killed by a car while attempting to cross a road in on Friday night, police said.
Howard Reich, 55, was walking across Route 109, near the Route 110 overpass, around 7:23 p.m. when he was hit by a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, police said.
Reich was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.
Kenneth S. Simon, the driver of the Sonata, which was rented, was not injured, police said.
Simon, 54, of , was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license, police said.
The Hyundai was impounded for a routine safety check.
