Lindenhurst Woman Hit by Car Dies at Hospital

Carolynn Rommell, 47, succumbs to injuries a day after crash.

A Lindenhurst woman by a car in the village last week has died, a spokesperson at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center has confirmed. 

Carolynn Rommell, 47, was walking eastbound across South Broadway in Lindenhurst shortly before 2 p.m. last Thursday when she was struck by a 2000 Hyundai making a right turn onto the street from West Hoffman Avenue, police said.

Rommell was admitted to Good Samaritan in West Islip in serious condition. She died the next day, hospital officials said.

The driver of the Hyundai, 75-year-old Eleanore Christie, of Lindenhurst, was not injured in the crash. No charges have been filed against Christie.
