Superintendent Richard Nathan wasted no time getting to what was on everyone's mind at the Board of Education's business meeting on .
, this one on Halloween, meant extra precautions at on . Only one entrance to the school was open, with students' bags being searched.
The threat was scrawled on the wall of the boys' bathroom, and since was specifically mentioned, no chances were taken, especially on the heels of the a couple weeks earlier.
"Since the health, safety and welfare of our students is always paramount, we did what we needed to do," Nathan said. "We exercised emergency procedures, we searched the building, our students were searched and so forth."
While an in the , no one has been caught for the Halloween threat as of yet. Nathan noted that the school's for younger students went off without a hitch as scheduled.
Also approved at the meeting was the leasing of the . The Living Truth Family Church will be leasing a classroom and the auditorium for the next three years, bringing in between $32,000 and $34,000.
Twenty-four rooms will be rented by Crook Brothers Productions for the next eight months for $65,000 to shoot a movie for Nickelodeon.
Little Angels Day Care is planning to rent three rooms, though that lease hasn't been signed yet.
The monthly meeting on , , will now be held at the high school to discuss the impact of the tax cap on the district.
The district also noted that 22 district students were named AP scholars, including six 2011 graduates attaining National AP scholar honors, the highest distinction.
