Police Revive Man Overdosing on Heroin

SCPD First Precinct Officers save 21-year old in a home on North Broome Avenue.

Two Suffolk County Police officers revived a man in Lindenhurst on Tuesday who they said was overdosing on heroin.

According to police, First Precinct Officers James Johnson and George Madjarian responded to a call of an unconscious male turning purple in a home on N. Broome Avenue. The officers determined that the man was overdosing on heroin and administered a dose of intranasal Narcan. The man then regained consciousness.

Lindenhurst Rescue transported the victim, 21, to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

The Suffolk County Police Department is participating in the New York State Department of Health pilot program involving the deployment of intranasal Narcan, a prescription drug used to reverse opiate overdoses. The program is being used by officers in all Suffolk County Police precincts, Marine Bureau and the Emergency Service Station.
