Village: Main Fire Department Relocated to Fireman's Park

Fire equipment moved in anticipation of the main fire house's imminent demolition.

The Village of Lindenhurst has moved two fire companies out of the Lindenhurst Main House on South Wellwood Avenue to the house at Fireman's Park effective immediately today.

Deputy Mayor Kevin McCaffrey announced the move today as work on the demolition and reconstruction of the Main House ramps up.

"While the Main House is being reconstructed, the volunteer fire department will continue to provide full service," McCaffrey said in a released statement. "Two companies, the Breslau Engine Company and the Rescue Company No.1, will be stationed at Fireman’s Park, just north of the Village Park."

The move effectively closes the 1923-built firehouse for good, with all equipment and personnel moved from the building, village administrator Shawn Cullinane told Patch

A statement released by the village said the Fire Department anticipates no problems in responding to emergency calls during the temporary relocation.

"The remaining Fire Houses are adequately positioned to quickly respond to all fire and rescue calls in the Lindenhurst community," McCaffrey said.

In the event of an emergency in the area, residents are told to still call the emergency numbers of 911 or (631) 226-1212.
