Watch: Officer Pritchard Laid to Rest in Lindenhurst

A blessing was held for New York Police Department Officer Joseph Pritchard at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Lindenhurst on Friday morning, March 29, with hundreds in attendance at the ceremony.

NYPD and Suffolk County Police Department officers lined South Wellwood Avenue, holding a solemn salute as Amazing Grace was played on bagpipes by the NYPD Emerald Society while the hearse from Lindenhurst Funeral Home pulled up outside of the Church.

A large gathering of family members and friends of the fallen officer also lined the main thoroughfare, weeping as a flag-drapped casket was carried into the Church on the shoulders of Pritchard's NYPD brothers.

Pritchard was killed on , when his car was struck on the Long Island Expressway in Melville. An investigation into the accident is continuing.
