Annual Santa in the Park Event Set for Sunday

The Annual Santa in the Park runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Village Square. It's preceded by the Annual Kiwanis Kids' Christmas Party, and followed by the Annual Lindenhurst Village Tree Lighting Ceremony and Parade.

The Annual Santa in the Park event is set for this Sunday, December 2, and will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Village Square Park at the corner of North Wellwood and East Hoffman Avenues.

It's sponsored once again by the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Lindenhurst Fire Department.

"We'll be handing out hot chocolate, cookies and little goodie bags," Chamber President and Lindenhurst Kiwanis Vice President JoAnn Boettcher told Patch on Thursday.

"Santa, of course, will be there, and there'll be music, too," she said, adding in years past the Chamber arranged for photos to be taken with Santa.

However, the past couple of years and now this year, too, that's stopped in favor of encouraging residents to bring their own cameras, Boettcher said, since technology has made that so much easier.

Once again the LFD will hold a raffle for a six-foot Christmas stocking filled with toys and goodies to be delivered Christmas Eve by Santa. All proceeds will benefit the Suffolk County Burn Center.

In addition, the LFD will also be accepting donations for Hurricane Sandy victims in the form of gift cards.

For more information please contact the Chamber of Commerce at 631-225-2996.

See also the accompanying PDF file for more information about the Annual Santa in the Park event, as well as the Annual Village of Lindenhurst Tree Lighting and Parade happening afterward on Sunday.

Boettcher also indicated the Lindenhurst Kiwanis Club will once again be hosting its Annual Christmas Party for Kids at the American Legion Hall on Herbert Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., on December 2.

The Party has been aimed at bringing holiday cheer to underpriveleged kids, according to Boettcher, and will now aim to bring holiday cheer to kids affected by Sandy, as well.

Santa and a magician will be on hand to delight the kids.

Hi Lindy Native. Thanks for posting these photos. But could you e-mail me at barbara.loehr@patch.comRead More with the originals and some more details? The photos you posted are really blurry/bitmapped. I think if you send the originals and some more info, then a story could be put together for the news section of the site. Thanks!
