Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced last Thursday that New Yorkers who lost their jobs or income due to Hurricane Sandy have an extension to February 28 to apply for federal disaster unemployment assistance.

“The physical destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy in New York was unprecedented, and as a result, many New Yorkers have been put out of work,”  said Cuomo who was touring downstate on Thursday and delivered an address on the SUNY Old Westbury campus.

“These federal funds will continue to help those who are still trying to get back on their feet." the governor said.
