The Lindenhurst Memorial Library is the Official FEMA Disaster Recovery Center for the Town of Babylon.
Here you can apply for assistance and speak to FEMA representatives in person. FEMA and 14 New York state agencies are stationed in the large meeting room located downstairs in the library.
Residents are also able to receive free vaccines, such as the influenza and tetanus shots, at the LML. Those interested in vaccines are advised to call beforehand for available hours, as they vary daily.
Directly following Hurricane Sandy the library opened as a warming shelter, with multiple charging stations for re-charging cell phones and digital devices.
Those without power were able to find shelter, warmth, free coffee and snacks while having full access to computers and WiFi. The library extended its hours Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4, as well as stayed open during Veterans' Day in order to accommodate patrons' needs.
Suffolk County Executive, Steve Bellone, visited the library on November 12 to speak with constituents about FEMA assistance and other forms of disaster aid.
On November 15 the American Red Cross food truck served hot meals for 500 in the main parking lot.

- NYS Office of Mental Health.
- Crisis Counseling.
- NYS Department of Financial Services.
- Department of Public Works.
- Social Security.
- Department of Labor.
- Department of Social Services.
- Department of Economic Development and Planning.
- Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Suffolk County Executive’s Office.
- Small Business Development Center.
- American Red Cross.
FEMA, as well as the New York State agencies, are operating from 9 a.m. to 7* p.m. daily.

FEMA will also be open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, although the library itself will be closed.
The Lindenhurst Memorial Library is dedicated to serving the community, and is willing to offer assistance to those who are in need.
