New Location for Old Village Hall Staked Out

Village officials mark spot where museum is expected to be moved to.

The future position of the Old Village Hall Museum seems to be decided on, at least in a general sense – village officials said that the historical building's future position at Irmisch Historical Park has been agreed upon.

Wooden stakes with hot pink paint on their tops marked the proposed position for the former village hall, which will be moved from its former home on Wellwood Avenue to the park between South Broadway, South 2nd Street and Kent Avenue.

Village administrator Shawn Cullinane said the proposed position would have the front of the building face the depot rather than outwards towards the roadways.

Cullinane noted, however, the positioning could be changed if the village wanted to before the building is permanently maneuvered.

The old village hall building will join the 1901 Restored Depot and Freight House at the park, as well as an old caboose train car.

The building currently sits at the back of its former property on a moving bed ready for transportation. It was lifted and removed to allow construction crews to demolish the former Lindenhurst Fire Department's Main House and begin construction on a newer, larger firehouse.
