Photos: Holiday Season Kicks off in the Town of Babylon

Babylon Town residents enjoy the Tree Lighting festivities.

The Annual Town of Babylon Tree Lighting took place in Lindenhurst at Town Hall last Friday night.

The popular event featured hot chocolate and cookies, costumed characters and Santa's visit. The band After Constantine set the mood for the festivities by playing Christmas songs.

Town officials, including Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Council Members Thomas Donnelly and Jackie Gordon, Tax Receiver Corinne DiSomma and the Suffolk County Executive (and former Supervisor) Steve Ballone, helped kick off the holiday season in Babylon.

David Blumenfeld, developer of Long Island's Tanger Outlets, was also present, and offered gift certificates to families which were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

A long table was set up for local kids to write their letters to Santa, as well, as they waited for his arrival.

The North Babylon Middle School Band opened the festivities, followed by Santa escorted by the North Lindenhurst Fire Department.

A wonderful night and a great time was had by all.

Hi Lindy Native. Thanks for posting these photos. But could you e-mail me at barbara.loehr@patch.comRead More with the originals and some more details? The photos you posted are really blurry/bitmapped. I think if you send the originals and some more info, then a story could be put together for the news section of the site. Thanks!
