Repairs to Lindy Docks Nearing Completion

Village Administrator tells Lindenhurst Patch they could be done in two weeks.

It’s been a little more than a year since Irene tore apart the Charles J. McCowan Marina (Lindy Docks).

And at Tuesday night's Board of Trustees meeting at Village Hall, Village Administrator Shawn Cullinane told Lindenhurst Patch the repairs on the docks are approximately two weeks from being completed.

"They're [Stout Construction] telling us two weeks. The decking is now being installed. The substructure's finished, the hurricane straps are done and the fill has been put in," he said.

Stout’s been working on the final phase of repairs since the Summer, and because of several factors including weather and tides, the repairs - which the Village had hoped to have first done by July 4, then by August 15, then September 15 - were pushed back by about six weeks, Cullinane said.

But now all that's left after the decking is the asphalt to be poured around it.

"They had to dig a three-foot-wide, two-foot deep trench around it, so it has to be filled in and tamped down and new asphalt has to be poured," he said.

Once that's done, the Village will be looking to have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the end of October, he said.

Hi Lindy Native. Thanks for posting these photos. But could you e-mail me at barbara.loehr@patch.comRead More with the originals and some more details? The photos you posted are really blurry/bitmapped. I think if you send the originals and some more info, then a story could be put together for the news section of the site. Thanks!
