Lindenhurst residents, officials, firefighters and politicians gathered on Sunday on the 10-year anniversary of September 11, 2001 to honor the memory of the eight residents who died in the attacks on the World Trade Center.
Those eight residents were: Joseph Angelini, Jr., Joseph Angelini, Sr., Susan M. Clyne, Tara Moore Debek, Geoffrey E. Guja, Gary H. Lee, Catherine Lisa LoGuidice and Laurence Nedell.
The community gathered in support of the families of those residents in Village Square Park at to walk in a silent procession to the Lindenhurst Remembers Memorial Garden.
At the Memorial Garden keynote speeches were given by Mayor Tom Brennan, U.S. Congressman Peter King and Pastor Paul Milholland. There was also a reading of the names of the residents who were lost.
Several leaders in the Lindenhurst community - Doug Madlon, deputy village administrator and co-chair of the Lindenhurst Remembers 9/11 Committee; Mayor Brennan, Deputy Mayor Kevin McCaffrey and NYS Assemblyman - reflected on the importance of remembering 9/11 in the community and shared where they were 10 years ago.
