The Village of Lindenhurst is alerting residents to be on the lookout for people posing as FEMA representatives.
Posing as FEMA Reps
"There were several reports of a couple knocking on doors posing as FEMA representatives for the purpose of obtaining your personal financial information," Village officials said in an update posted on www.villageoflindenhurst.com on Thursday night here.
All FEMA representatives have visible identification, officials noted, and do not ask for your personal information when going door to door.
In the same post-Hurricane Sandy update Village officials put out a request for volunteers.
"This Saturday, November 17, at 10 a.m. at Shore Road Park, volunteers are needed to assist in the distribution of donated items," officials said.
"Thanks to the generosity of many people the Village has many items needed by the residents impacted by the storm. With your help and assistance we can all help those in our community who are overwhelmed with the task of trying to restore some order to their lives," they added.
For more information call Village Hall at 631-957-7500.
New: A message received from the Village's text messaging system (text VOL to 411247) late Friday afternoon said the ASPCA will also be at Shore Road Park on Saturday, at 1:30 p.m., distributing pet food and supplies.
