What Does Straight Path Need to Prevent Accidents?

It seems there are so many accidents along Straight Path in North Lindenhurst. What does it need to decrease the accident count? More traffic lights? Lower speed limit?

Accidents happen, but it seems that Straight Path in North Lindenhurst is a magnet for them.

Just this week there was a at the intersection at North Wellwood Avenue. In there were along Straight Path. And in April an accident on Straight Path caused a car to on 49th Street.

Maybe the reason for so many accidents along this road is that there aren't too many traffic lights in between the stretch of Straight Path between North Wellwood and Route 109, and no lights between the stretch between Wellwood and Sunrise Highway.

Maybe it's because many tend to speed along Straight Path despite posted limits of 35 mph on most of the stretch of the road.

Maybe it's because the road needs police to increase patrols.

Or maybe it's none of those reasons.

However, whatever the reason, residents might agree that something might need to be done to decrease the amount of accidents along Straight Path.

So, Lindy what do you think? What, if anything, should be done to decrease the number of accidents along Straight Path?

Hi Lindy Native. Thanks for posting these photos. But could you e-mail me at barbara.loehr@patch.comRead More with the originals and some more details? The photos you posted are really blurry/bitmapped. I think if you send the originals and some more info, then a story could be put together for the news section of the site. Thanks!
