District Cancels All After-School Activities for Fri., Sat.
This excludes SCOPE, school officials say, and there are no plans for early dismissal at this time.
The Lindenhurst School District has canceled all after-school activities on February 8 and 9 - except for SCOPE.
The decision comes ahead of the Noreaster that's caused the National Weather Service to put the entire tri-state area under a blizzard warning and issue a coastal flood advisory.
District officials told Lindenhurst Patch on Friday morning these activities include all clubs, events and sports, expect for SCOPE, the after-school program at Kellum.

The associated late buses for these after-activities will also not run, though since SCOPE has not been canceled the buses for that program will run.
A School Messenger phone notification has been sent to parents about this, officials said, and the information is also posted on the District's website.

School opening went well this morning, despite the weather, and there are no plans for an early dismissal at this time, officials noted.
Four basketball games that were originally scheduled for today were played yesterday, according to the District.
Lindenhurst Middle School wrestling on Friday has been moved to March 15.
LINGO night on Friday at the LMS was postponed on Thursday, but no new date has been set.
And the Seventh Annual Legislative Breakfast that was set for Saturday at the Lindenhurst High School was canceled on Thursday ahead of the storm.
Elementary Swim Lessons on Saturday are also canceled.
