Members of the Student Council and National Honor Society at the Lindenhurst High School entertained senior citizens from two local senior programs at the school’s annual holiday extravaganza.
The day began with a musical performance by the LHS chorus, whose presentation included holiday songs such as Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Deck the Halls and the all-time favorite Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Student council members greeted and spoke with the invited attendees as they entered the library, which was decorated in a festive holiday motif.
Select members of the orchestra provided entertainment while guests enjoyed lunch, which was prepared by the culinary arts students.
In addition, every senior citizen received a holiday card.
“The students truly enjoyed spending time talking with the senior citizens,” said Student Council Co-Adviser Megan Scharf.
“The senior citizens were most appreciative, especially this holiday season, of the students’ warmth,” she added.
