Lindenhurst School Budget Passes, Incumbents Re-Elected

Lindenhurst residents approved the school district’s $146.37 million proposed budget on Tuesday by a margin of 1,677-650. 

The budget includes a 0.47 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.48 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state's tax cap. The average Lindenhurst homeowner will pay about $140 additional in school taxes next year. 

School board incumbents Valerie McKenna and Sean McNeilly ran unopposed and were re-elected. Incumbent Edward J. Murphy Jr. defeated former board trustee Julie Bartolomeo by a margin of 1,304-812.
