Lindenhurst Elementary Students Embrace the Stage

Rall and Alleghany students participate in an innovative writing workshop program presented by Theatre Moves.

Second-grade students at William Rall Elementary School and fourth-graders at Alleghany Avenue participated in an innovative writing workshop program presented by Theatre Moves.

In a series of workshops, students worked in small groups to collaborate on their mini-performances. They partnered together, wrote short stories and worked as a team to present their material, utilizing various learning situations.

The three Cs of concentration, cooperation and commitment allowed students to view life skills in a new and exciting way.

Performances, led by Theatre Moves owners Neil Intraub and Paul Rajeckas, incorporated childhood games such as Red Light, Green Light and Telephone.

Students acted out a series of emotions - such as happy, sad and angry - as part of their presentations.

Intraub and Rajeckas have performed for audiences throughout the United States for more than 30 years. Their work's been presented at prestigious venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

The workshop was brought to the schools as an Arts-in-Education grant from the Lindenhurst School District’s fine and performing arts department.
