The Interact Club, a community club comprised of Lindenhurst High School students, recently organized a one-week clothing drive in support of the national Teens for Jeans campaign. The campaign, organized by Dosomething.org and Aéropostale, encourages students to collect gently used jeans for teens living in local shelters.

On May 16, the club members and advisers Gaye Kienle and Jackie Milton, along with school Principal Daniel E. Giordano, met with Assemb. Bob Sweeney; Town of Babylon Councilman and Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez; Florence Findley, director of the town’s beautification program; and Noel Campbell, director of the Gerald J. Ryan Outreach Center in Wyandanch. At the meeting, the students proudly presented Ms. Campbell with approximately 50 pairs of jeans for the clothing room of the outreach center.

In his address to the students, Martinez said, “It is so good to see so many young people being active and helping out their neighbors because they are the future of the town and the country – and from what I see in you, the future looks bright.”
