Photos: LHS Fall Festival Lifts Lindy's Spirits

The festival took the place of Safe Halloween, which was canceled due to Hurricane Sandy that hit Lindenhurst hard just two days before.

The Lindenhurst High School hosted the Lindenhurst Fall Festival this past Friday. It was an event that was warmly welcomed by Hurricane Sandy-weary residents.

Lindenhurst school officials told Lindenhurst Patch "so many were glad they did this."

Especially after the LHS' annual Safe Halloween event had to be canceled, thanks to Sandy hitting Lindy hard two days before that.

But on Friday the high school halls were filled with happy faces, a flurry of activity and lots of kids in costume, despite it being a costume-optional event.

There were kids of all ages, from elementary-age right up to teens, decked out and ready to have a good time.

And that they did. School officials said kids enjoyed everything from the DJ music and ice cream in the cafeteria and Trick or Treat Street to games and face-painting.

There were also Fall/Halloween skits that were put on by students.

Every club was represented - the Robotics Club even had its robot out and about, school officials said.

The event also collected many that will be redistributed to those in need in the community post-Sandy, according to school officials.
