Photos: Lindenhurst Girls Varsity Volleyball Defeats Newfield in Quarterfinals

On Saturday number two seed Lindenhurst Girls Varsity Volleyball team took down number seven seed Newfield Wolverines in the first round of playoffs, 3-0.

The Lindenhurst Girls Varsity Volleyball team (15-2) defeated Newfield High School - the number seven seed - in the Suffolk Class AA quarterfinals by a score of three games to none: 25-11, 25-12, 25-13.

The win allows the Lady Bulldogs to move on to the next - the - Tuesday, , at the .

"We play Ward Melville on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the high school. They're the three seed; we're the two seed. Both teams are evenly matched, and it should be a great team," said Head Coach , who also noted that the WMHS head coach is the man who started Dig Pink in Suffolk County: Charlie Ferndandes.

She added that the Varsity and JV Girls Volleyball teams " for Breast Cancer ," and that the tournament the team hosted on weekend was a "huge success," with Lindy emerging the out of 16 teams total.
