Two Lindenhurst Students Recognized for Athleticism & Leadership

Kyle Cropsey and Ajsha Mekulovic receive Suffolk Zone honors.

Two Lindenhurst High School students recently received Suffolk Zone honors for their athletic skills and leadership abilities on and off the field.

Ajsha Mekulovic and Kyle Cropsey were selected as outstanding physical education students and received the prestigious Suffolk Zone Award.

The award is granted from the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation (NYS AHPERD).

Criteria for the Suffolk Zone award include exceptional performance in physical education, scholarship, leadership qualities and service to the Lindenhurst community.

Mekulovic plays for the badminton and volleyball teams while Cropsey runs cross-country and plays for the lacrosse team.

These students were honored at recent a dinner at the Hyatt Regency Wind Watch in Hauppauge.

“We take great pride in this award,” said Anthony Amesti, Lindenhurst Schools Coordinator of Athletics, Physical Education and Health. “Congratulations to Ajsha and Kyle."
