Linda I have lived here for decades and I didnt know that number either. I would have dialed 911.Read More But the idea of posting it on signs is not a bad idea at all.

Unfortunately the number everyone is taught from a very young age is 911. Not everyone knows theRead More number to their local fire departments.. The number is usually only posted when you enter that district and nowhere else... I just so happened to be driving in that area that night when I came across this accident being an EMT I quickly sprung into action... With the impact he took and bring ejected from the vehicle at the rate of speed he must have been going unfortunately those couple of seconds we're not going to have been much aide... I wish the outcome was different and I feel horrible for the family... RIP to the driver

The name Bosak is a Lindenhurst name. Didn't you know that where you live is part of the FireRead More Rescue District that uses 226-1212? Is it possible that many people were calling 911 and tied the lines up, but as far as this Fire Rescue # - I think this is a BIG EYE OPENER. Perhaps the town of Babylon should post this number on metal signs all over the main arteries so people know this life saving information. As a former EMT, I understand too well the importance of time being of the essence to save a life. Linda
