Husband of Former BOE Trustee Arrested for Providing Alcohol to Minors at House Party

A Lindenhurst man was arrested on Saturday after police say he provided alcoholic beverages to a group of high school students at his home in Lindenhurst last month.

Police said James Bartolomeo allowed his 17-year-old daughter to invite approximately eight of her Lindenhurst High School classmates over to their house for a backyard gathering on September 25.

As the teenagers arrived, according to police, Bartolomeo placed a quantity of beer, Twisted Tea and Four Loko, all alcoholic beverages, in the backyard.

Police said Bartolomeo stayed inside the house, but periodically checked on the teenagers as they drank the alcohol.

Bartolomeo - the husband of Julie Bartolomeo, the former Lindenhurst Board of Education trustee who resigned abruptly at a BOE meeting on Wednesday night, following allegations by a resident, Peter Irizarry, of a teen party that was held at her home - was arrested on October 6 by police at 3 p.m.

Suffolk Police charged James Bartolomeo, 50, with unlawfully dealing with a minor.

According to police, James Bartolomeo was released on station house bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on December 7.

Police said Julie Bartolomeo has not been charged, and said the investigation is continuing.
