New Wellwood Ave Fire House Bidding Process Completed

New Main House construction will cost village approximately $5.5 million.

The Village of Lindenhurst has set a final price on the construction of the new Lindenhurst Fire Department Main House at more than $5.5 million.

The village passed two resolutions at a public board meeting, accepting bids for the demolition of the current main house and construction of the new Main House, set to be built in its place. The bids would be paid for by a proposed bond fund, which the village anticipates will be completed soon.

As Patch reported in June 2012, the bond will skip the referendum phase due to the safety issue at the current Wellwood Avenue Main House with scaffolding currently supporting the cracked structure of the nearly century old firehouse.

The total price tag on the project, with additional project costs factored in, is set at $5,522,394.

General construction of the new Main House will be handled by MPCC Corp. of New Rochelle and cost a total of $3,258,773. Additional infrastructure and interior installations including plumbing and electrical will bring the total project costs $4.9 million.

The village board approved an additional $588,760 for additional costs during the construction.

The demolition phase of the project, which will also be handled by MPCC Corp., will be the least costly, factoring in only two percent of the final project cost.

The village had perviously anticipated a cost of around $6 million for the entire project.
