Village Plans to Move Old Village Hall Next Week

100 year old building will head to Irmisch Park with other historical buildings.

One of Lindenhurst's oldest buildings, Old Village Hall, will be on the move again come this time next week, according to the village mayor.

"We're planning on starting on Monday," Mayor Tom Brennan said during the recent village meeting. "It will go on throughout the week and hopefully be done by the end of the week."

The Old Village Hall, which had served as a museum for over two decades in Lindenhurst, will be moved to a new spot in Irmisch Park on South Broadway, next to the old village railroad station and depot.

The building will continue to serve as a historical point in the village, but officials said earlier this year the days as a full-fledged museum were over for the former village hall and police station.

The grounds, which will be used to construct a portion of the new Wellwood Avenue firehouse, should be ready for use within two weeks of the move, Brennan said.

The village is looking to move the museum's contents to a new building formerly owned and operated by Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church across the street.

The museum has been closed for roughly two months in preparation for the big move of the contents and the building itself.
