Several Car Break-Ins Reported Over the Weekend
iPods, wallets and cash stolen from vehicles overnight on Friday.
Suffolk County Police said they were called to a few car break-ins and burglaries over the weekend as unknown robbers got into cars parked in Lindenhurst.
A Suffolk County Police spokesperson told Patch.com that at least two break-ins were reported to police on Saturday, with the items being stolen either Friday night or earlier in the morning hours.
The two break-ins reported to police were within a block of each other on 40th and 41st Streets.
The break-in on 40th Street was observed, according to the spokesperson. Two black males reportedly broke into a Saturn, removing cash, a wallet and an ATM card from the vehicle before fleeing in the direction of Albany Avenue. The crime was reported at 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
A second burglary was reported later in the morning as an iPod touch and a pair of sunglasses were stolen from a Nissan parked in a driveway on 41st Street.
Other residents reportedly found items missing from their cars on 41st and 43rd Streets according to Facebook posts.
Suffolk Police are still investigating the break-ins.
It is suggested keeping car doors locked at night and removing all items of value from the vehicle for safe-keeping in a home overnight.
